Visual system – Rundgang 2020

Poster series and visual system for the annual exhibition of the Berlin Academy of Arts

2nd place in the Rundgang-Design-Competition 2020

The seven posters are created with a modular system of pictures and words. It represents the art academy as a place, where things are being transformed, turned, combined, mixed and renegotiated. Like this new things, ways, meanings and solutions develop. At the annual exhibition we show our thus developed works. All modules can be combined and swapped, because the work at an art academy is free and open-ended, an experiment. It is always alterable and flexible. The illustrations reflect the diversity of the UdK: human, nature, technic, design, culture. The terms refer to the goals and values of the UdK as big interdisciplinary art academy.

Picture book – Hats and other headwear from all over the world

Concept, design, text and illustration for a picture book introducing headwear pieces from all over the world.

Per headwear there is at least one page displaying a large portrait of a person wearing the respective headgear and an info text. Some have additional illustrations relating to the headwear on the same page or even an extra page.

Headwear serves not only as decoration or protection. It is a message about its wearer, for example about her or his religion, place in a hierarchy, attitude or profession. Over time headgear has become tradition, symbol for movements, epochs and cultures. They have all kinds of forms, colours and materials. This book introduces a variety of people and goes on a journey through the cultural history of headwear.
